Who we are
Front Door Sites is a small business in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois that builds, hosts and updates websites for local businesses. Much of the work is done by Max, our AI assistant. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean Front Door Sites. You can reach us at max@getfrontdoorsites.com.
What we collect
When you ask for a free preview
You ask by emailing Max. The note on our homepage suggests your business name, town, type of business and where to learn about it, but you choose what to send. We get your message, your email address, and your name if your email shows it. Nothing you type on our homepage is sent to us until you send that email yourself.
When we build a preview for a business
We find local businesses without a website using Google's official business search. From Google, we keep only an ID number for each place. We build each preview from public information about the business, like its own Facebook page, menu, signs, news stories and public records. We write to an email address the business itself has published. We don't buy email lists, and we don't copy reviews or photos from Google Maps.
When you email us
We keep your messages and anything you attach, like photos, a menu or a logo, so we can reply and make the changes you ask for.
When you pay
Payments are made on Stripe's secure page. Stripe shares with us your name, email address, billing details, the type and last four digits of your card, and whether a payment went through. We never receive your full card number.
When you visit this website
Like every website, our host's servers see basic technical information, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. They use it to deliver the site and keep it secure. We don't run analytics or advertising tools on this website.
How we use it
- To build, host and update websites, and to make the changes you ask for.
- To reply to your messages and send you your preview, your receipts and important notices about your plan.
- To take payments, send renewal reminders and handle refunds.
- To contact businesses about a preview we built for them, by email only. Every email says how to stop, and we honor every stop request the same day.
- To keep our services secure, prevent fraud and spam, and follow the law.
Max, our AI assistant, reads and writes emails and works with the information above to do these jobs. The owner of Front Door Sites can see it too, to oversee Max and handle billing and anything unusual.
Who we share it with
We never sell personal information, and we never share it for advertising. We use a few service providers who handle information for us, only to provide our service:

We may also share information when the law requires it, to protect our rights or someone's safety, or with a buyer if the business is ever sold, in which case this policy would still apply to your information.
Cookies and tracking
This website doesn't set cookies, and it has no analytics, ads or tracking tools. Because we don't track you, "Do Not Track" signals don't change anything here. When you pay, you're on Stripe's own page, which uses its own cookies for security and fraud prevention under Stripe's privacy policy.
How long we keep it
- Previews: when a preview comes down, we delete it. We keep a short record that we contacted the business, so we don't contact it again by mistake.
- Stop requests: if you ask us to stop emailing you, we keep your email address on our do-not-contact list, so we can keep that promise.
- Customers: we keep your website and messages while you're a customer. Billing records are kept as long as tax law requires.
- Everything else: we keep it only as long as we need it for the reasons above, then delete it.
Your choices
Email max@getfrontdoorsites.com to:
- ask what information we have about you or your business,
- correct anything that's wrong,
- ask us to delete it, or
- stop hearing from us. You can also reply "stop" to any email.
We'll answer within 30 days, usually much sooner. We may need to confirm it's really you first. Deleting some information may mean we can't keep providing your website, and we'll tell you if that's the case. We won't treat you differently for asking.
Websites we host for customers
If you visit a website we built for one of our customers, that business is responsible for it. Messages sent through its contact or quote forms go to that business. We handle that information for the business only to run its website, and we don't use it for anything else.
Security
Our sites use HTTPS. Access to our accounts is limited and protected, and card payments go through Stripe, which is certified to the highest payment security standard. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe and will tell you promptly if a problem affects it.
Children
Our service is for businesses, not children. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you think a child has sent us information, email us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here with a new date. If a change affects how we use customers' information, we'll email customers before it takes effect.
