About these terms

Front Door Sites is a small business in Champaign County, Illinois, run by its owner as a sole proprietorship. In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean Front Door Sites. "You" means the business that uses our service, and the person acting for it. By asking us for a preview, choosing a plan, or paying us, you agree to these terms, our Privacy Policy and our refund policy.

Our service is for businesses, so please only sign up for a business you own or are allowed to act for.

What we do

We design and build a website for your business, host it on the internet with HTTPS, and keep it up to date when you email us changes. The Website Plan includes:

• a website designed for your business, built to work well on phones,
• secure hosting,
• a web address, or connecting a domain you already own, and
• small changes by email, like new hours, prices, photos, menu items or text.

Free previews

We sometimes build a preview website for a business before anyone asks, and then email the business a link. You can also ask for one on our homepage.

• A preview is free, and there's no obligation. You only pay if you choose a plan.
• A preview isn't your official website. It's marked as a preview and hidden from search engines.
• We build previews from public information about your business, like your own social media pages, menus and signs. We don't copy reviews or photos from Google Maps.
• If anything in a preview is wrong, tell us and we'll fix it or take it down, free.
• Ask us to remove your preview any time and we will. If we don't hear from you, we take it down 30 days after our last email.

Plans, prices and payment

• Prices. The Website Plan costs $29 a month or $199 a year, in US dollars. There's no setup fee. We don't add sales tax today. If that ever changes, we'll tell you before it applies.
• Paying. When you're ready, Max emails you a secure Stripe payment link. You pay by card on Stripe's page. We never see your full card number.
• Renewal. Your plan renews automatically each month or year, charged to the card on file, until you cancel. We email yearly customers a reminder at least 7 days before each renewal.
• Failed payments. If a payment fails, Stripe retries it and emails you a link to update your card. If it's still unpaid 14 days after Stripe's last try, the plan is treated as cancelled and your website is taken offline. There are no late fees.
• Price changes. If our prices change, we'll email you at least 30 days before you're charged the new price, so you can cancel first if you want to.

Going live

Everything we provide is online. Nothing is shipped. After you pay, we take the preview label off your site and put it live, usually within a day, and Max emails you the link. If you want to use a web address you already own, we'll walk you through connecting it.

Changes to your site

Small changes are included in your plan: things like hours, prices, photos, menu items, text and colors. Email Max or reply to any email from Max, and it's usually done the same day.

Bigger projects, like extra pages, online ordering or booking, or a new logo, aren't included. We'll give you a price first, and we only start after you say yes. Nothing is added to your bill without your yes.

Max is an AI

Max, our AI assistant, builds websites, answers email and makes changes. Max will always tell you it's an AI. The owner of Front Door Sites oversees Max and handles refunds, billing questions and anything unusual. Just ask for a person.

AI can make mistakes. Please look over your site and any change we make, and tell us if something is wrong. We'll fix our mistakes free.

Your content and who owns what

• Yours. Your business name, logo, photos, words and other content you give us stay yours. You give us permission to use them, along with public information about your business, to build, host and update your website.
• Ours. We own the designs, code and tools we create. While you're a customer, you may use your website for your business.
• When you leave. If you cancel, ask and Max will send you a copy of your website's files for free. You may then host and use that website for your business anywhere.
• Your rights to share it. When you send us content, you confirm you have the right to use it, and that it's accurate and legal.
• Our marketing. We won't show your website as an example of our work without your permission.

Using your site responsibly

Your website can't be used for anything illegal, misleading or harmful, or for content that infringes someone else's rights. We may refuse to publish content like that, or remove it, and we'll tell you why.

Cancelling and refunds

You can cancel any time by emailing max@getfrontdoorsites.com or replying to any email from Max. Your plan stops renewing, and your site stays up until the end of the time you've paid for. You can get a full refund if you ask within 30 days of a yearly payment or your first monthly payment. All the details are in our refund policy.

When we can end service

We can suspend or end your service if you don't pay, if your website would break the law or these terms, or if you misuse our service. If we decide to stop serving you for any other reason, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice, refund any time you've prepaid but won't get to use, and send you a copy of your website's files.

Other companies we use

We rely on other companies to run our service, like Stripe for payments and Netlify for hosting. Their own terms apply to their parts of the service. We're not responsible for their outages or mistakes, but we'll do our best to sort out any problem for you.

What we can and can't promise

We work hard to make your website accurate and keep it online, and we fix problems quickly when we hear about them. But websites can sometimes go down for reasons outside our control, so we can't promise your site will be online every minute. We also can't promise any particular search ranking, number of visitors or amount of sales. Apart from what these terms say, the service is provided "as is", to the extent the law allows.

Limits on liability

To the extent the law allows, we're not responsible for indirect losses, like lost profits or lost business, and our total responsibility for any claim related to our service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have that the law doesn't allow us to limit.

Disagreements

If something goes wrong, please email us first. Most problems can be fixed quickly that way. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois. Any court case about them must be brought in the state or federal courts serving Champaign County, Illinois, except that either of us may use small claims court.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We'll post the new version here with a new date. If a change matters to customers, we'll email you at least 30 days before it takes effect, and you can cancel before then if you don't agree.
